Ukraine will continue to train medical professionals according to US standards. The Committee on National Health, Medical Care and Medical Insurance, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine and Global Response Medicine have signed a memorandum of cooperation that provides for the development of joint educational and medical initiatives. This was announced by the chairman of the committee, Mykhailo Radutsky.

The document records the parties’ intention to create an innovation centre that will work to improve the quality of medical care in the field of brain health. A separate focus is placed on treating the neurological and psychological consequences of war faced by both military and civilian patients. As part of the cooperation, it is planned to introduce modern treatment protocols adapted to the Ukrainian healthcare system.

Ukrainian doctors already have experience of training at leading American medical institutions. Specialists have been trained at HomeBase and Harvard Medical School, which specialise in working with combat injuries and their consequences. Previous programmes have included projects to train medical professionals in emergency care, surgery and burn medicine.

According to Mykhailo Radutsky, the key value of these programmes is their practical effect on patients. Doctors who have been trained according to American standards are already working in medical institutions in Ukraine and applying the knowledge they have gained in the treatment of wounded and sick people. It is expected that continued cooperation in 2026 will allow this experience to be scaled up and more Ukrainian specialists to be involved in the programmes.
