The CHOVEN project has been launched in Portugal, providing rest and comprehensive support to the families of Ukrainian soldiers who died in the war. This was reported by the Ombudsman of Ukraine, Dmytro Lubinets.
For 21 days, women and children will be able to:
- relax;
- take part in cultural and creative activities;
- receive gentle psychological support.
As part of the project, 15 families from Chernihiv region have arrived in Portugal and have already met with President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa in Lisbon.


During the meeting, the President spoke with Ukrainian children and answered their questions, after which the participants toured his residence.
CHOVEN aims to support and care for families who have suffered losses due to the war by creating a safe space for rest and communication.
It is noted that the project is being implemented by the charitable organisation ICF ‘Friends of Ukraine Foundation’ in partnership with Help UA PT with the support of the Office of the Ombudsman of Ukraine, Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Chernihiv Regional Military Administration, PostCode, the Ukrainian Institute of the Future, and the Ukrainian diaspora in Portugal.
