The National Museum of the History of Ukraine in World War II presented a new exhibition, “Through the Darkness: The Light of Memory”, which presents digital evidence of the current war in Ukraine. This was reported by the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine.
The project was created by the Skeiron team with the participation of several partner organisations, including the National Police of Kharkiv Region and the Memorial memory platform.
The exhibition displays three-dimensional models of destroyed objects, places of illegal detention and mass graves in the liberated territories of the Kharkiv region. Special attention is paid to the personal stories of the region’s residents, which helps to convey the context of events and highlight the human dimension of contemporary trials.
During the opening, Deputy Minister of Culture for Digital Development Anastasia Bondar emphasised the importance of digital technologies for documenting today’s historical events and communicating them to the world and future generations. According to her, multimedia formats allow the realities of war to be recreated with high accuracy even where physical presence is impossible.
Yuriy Savchuk, Director of the War Museum, noted that the exhibition was the result of dozens of expeditions to frontline areas and is part of cultural and informational work aimed at preserving the memory of the events and experiences of people who survived the occupation and hostilities.
The project uses modern digital methods – 3D scanning, photogrammetry, and sound – to create a space for reflecting on the war with respect for the victims.
The exhibition will run in Kyiv until 9 February 2026 at 27 Lavrska Street.
