In 2025, Ukrainian doctors performed 658 organ transplants in 26 transplant centres, which is twice as many as in 2021, when the transplant system was just getting started, according to the MOH.
Most patients were given a chance at life at the First Medical Association of Lviv, where 154 transplants were performed.
High rates were also recorded at the Oleksandr Shalimov National Scientific Centre for Surgery and Transplantology and Kyiv City Clinical Hospital No. 1.
Ukrainian doctors transplanted kidneys, livers and hearts. The Heart Institute of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine became the leader in the number of heart transplants, and the most liver transplants were performed at the Oberig clinic.
Lviv remains the leader in the number of kidney transplants.
The share of transplants from deceased donors in 2025 was 71%, which corresponds to the figures for previous years and indicates the stable operation of the donation system.
At the same time, there are a significant number of patients on the national waiting list. As of now, there are over four thousand patients on the list, most of whom need a kidney, heart or liver transplant.
A separate area, haematopoietic stem cell transplantation, has also shown growth. In 2025, 490 such transplants were performed in Ukraine, including 80 on children. Medical care of this level is provided in 13 healthcare facilities.
The largest number of bone marrow transplants were performed at the Okhmatdyt National Children’s Specialised Hospital, the medical centre in Cherkasy and the National Cancer Institute.
The teams at these three institutions also performed the most complex transplants from unrelated donors, carrying out 80 such operations in a year.
In 2025, Ukraine recorded a record number of organ transplants. Doctors performed 658 transplants in 26 centres, twice the number in 2021.
