The first 79 lyceums have been selected in Ukraine to begin piloting specialised secondary education from 1 September 2026. The list includes institutions from 23 regions and Kyiv, representing different models of teaching organisation and educational contexts.
The selected lyceums include institutions of various project capacities, full-time and distance learning formats, located in both urban and rural areas. A lyceum with a national minority language of instruction is also involved in the pilot programme. This approach should ensure that the new model of specialised education is tested in different conditions and takes into account the needs of different communities.
These institutions will be among the first in Ukraine to offer senior high school students a choice of educational pathways. The lyceums plan to introduce updated programmes for compulsory subjects, as well as new elective courses that will allow students to develop individual learning paths in line with their interests and future educational or professional plans.
Information about which lyceums have become pilot schools in a particular region is publicly available at a special link. At the same time, a second wave of school selection has been announced, as a total of 150 lyceums are planned to participate in the pilot project. The conditions for submitting applications and the requirements for schools are published separately.
