According to the carrier, the new train schedules are planned to be ready by the end of the day on January 7. Ticket sales will start on the morning of January 8: at 8:00 a.m. for domestic flights and at 9:00 a.m. for international flights. Trains will begin running according to the revised schedule on January 22.
Until the changes are fully implemented, trains may be delayed by one to two hours. The duration of the delays will depend on traffic intensity and technical capabilities on the Fastiv section, where restoration work is ongoing.
The reason for the adjustments was a Russian missile strike on the railway infrastructure in Fastiv. On the night of December 6, the station building was destroyed, passenger locomotives and suburban depot facilities were damaged. Station employees were not injured, as they were in shelters during the attack.
Ukrzaliznytsia CEO Oleksandr Pertsovskyi said that the strikes were recorded directly at the station, suburban depot workshops, and the dispatch center. The depot serviced electric trains that provided suburban connections between Kyiv and the region, which complicated the organization of traffic in the direction.
Ukrzaliznytsia notes that the schedule adjustments are a necessary step to stabilize train traffic and ensure passenger safety.
