Ukraine continues to implement a one-time winter support program in the amount of 6,500 hryvnia for the most vulnerable categories of the population. According to the Ministry of Social Policy, Family, and Unity, more than 370,000 citizens have already received funds since the program began.

The program was launched at the end of November and covered several categories of children in need of additional social protection. These include children from low-income families, children of internally displaced persons receiving living assistance, children in foster care or under guardianship, as well as children with disabilities raised in foster families or family-type children’s homes.
As of now, the total number of applications submitted has exceeded 463,000. More than 385,000 applicants have been approved. Those whose applications have already been approved but have not yet received payment will have the funds transferred within ten days.
The state has already financed more than 381,000 applications for a total of more than UAH 2.5 billion. The funds received are actively used for their intended purpose. Most often, the assistance is used to purchase clothing, footwear, and medicines. A significant part of the expenses is related to children’s goods and pharmacy chains.
The winter support program ran from November 21 to December 17. The payments are targeted and can be used within six months exclusively for specific categories of goods, which are intended to support the basic needs of families during the cold season.
