On January 1, Ukraine officially became a full participant in the European Roam Like at Home policy. For Ukrainians traveling or temporarily staying in European Union countries, this means a stable opportunity to use mobile communications and the internet without additional costs. Domestic rates no longer depend on short-term agreements between operators and are fixed on a permanent basis.

Previously, free roaming in the EU for Ukrainian subscribers was subject to temporary agreements that were regularly reviewed. Now Ukraine has become the first candidate country for EU membership to join Roam Like at Home even before becoming a full member. This decision removes financial uncertainty for millions of mobile users.
In fact, Ukrainians can use their SIM cards in EU countries under the same conditions as in Ukraine. Minutes, SMS, and mobile internet are deducted from the tariff without additional payments. The same principle applies to EU citizens staying in Ukraine.
The new rules have a direct financial impact. Ukrainians abroad no longer pay extra for roaming, which could previously account for a significant portion of their expenses, especially with active use of mobile internet. This allows them to save hundreds and thousands of hryvnia every month, depending on their tariff and usage.
For temporary stays in the EU, domestic tariffs are valid for 120 days. At the same time, for Ukrainians who actually live in EU countries, the conditions are even more stable. Domestic tariffs remain available continuously as long as the agreement between Ukrainian and European operators is in force. Currently, this period is set to last until at least March 2027.
Thus, Ukrainians in the EU have gained long-term financial predictability in the field of mobile communications and taken another practical step towards full integration with the European digital market.
