In Zaporizhzhia, volunteers from the Ukrainian Red Cross Rapid Response Team in the Zaporizhzhia region joined in the clean-up after another Russian attack. Work continued at all locations hit, in coordination with the city’s emergency and utility services.
At the scene, volunteers provided assistance to affected residents. Four people received first aid, and 14 more victims and their relatives received initial psychological support. Ukrainian Red Cross specialists worked with people who were in a state of stress due to the shelling and damage to their homes.
According to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, Russian troops struck Zaporizhzhia twice with strike drones during the night of the attack. Three fires broke out during the first wave of shelling. A non-residential extension to a multi-storey building and two farm buildings caught fire. Debris damaged residential buildings, road surfaces and cars.
The second strike caused damage to a shopping centre. Rescuers, medics, law enforcement officers and volunteers worked at the sites of the strikes, helping residents and assessing the impact of the attack on the city’s civilian infrastructure.
