In the autumn, Ukraine’s Ministry of Social Policy, Family and Unity launched a state support program providing cash payments for the purchase of solid household fuel. The initiative is aimed at supporting internally displaced persons during the heating season and has already been extended to nearly 9,000 families of internally displaced persons (IDPs).
The assistance is available to IDPs who have already been granted benefits or housing subsidies for the purchase of solid household fuel. A key condition is that applicants must not have received similar financial support from international organizations. Particular attention is given to families living in frontline regions.
The program is financed from the state budget through the Pension Fund of Ukraine. So far, the Pension Fund has allocated UAH 78.9 million to cover payments for almost nine thousand people.
The ministry emphasizes that the targeted assistance is designed to support citizens who require additional resources to get through the heating season and to reduce risks associated with fuel shortages during the winter period.
