A new cultural institution has opened in Ireland — the Ukrainian Cultural Centre in Ireland, which aims to promote Ukrainian culture, contemporary art and language, and develop cultural ties between Ukraine and Ireland. The centre is intended to serve as a platform for introducing the Irish audience to contemporary Ukrainian art, literature, theatre, music and other cultural events, as well as promoting a deeper understanding of Ukraine’s historical and cultural context.
The co-founder and director of the organisation is Ukrainian journalist and cultural manager Nataliia Korniienko, coordinator of the Slova i Kuli (Words and Bullets) project, who has been living in Ireland for several years and is actively working to promote Ukrainian culture abroad.
The centre plans to organise educational initiatives, exhibitions of contemporary artists, theatre projects and other events that will showcase the richness of contemporary Ukrainian culture. The centre is also open to cooperation with art projects, educational institutions and organisations that seek to develop cultural exchange between the two countries.
The establishment of a Ukrainian cultural institution in Ireland comes against the backdrop of the Ukrainian diaspora’s active participation in the cultural life of the country, which includes joint projects, participation in festivals and informational events for the general public.
