Ukrainian researchers in the field of humanities and social sciences can apply for an international scholarship from the Vienna Institute for Humanitarian Studies. The programme provides financial support of up to €3,300 and three months of work on their own research project between September 2026 and June 2027.
The scholarship focuses on research into global issues of culture, society or politics through an understanding of Ukraine’s historical and contemporary experience. Participants will have the opportunity to work at the Vienna Institute for Humanitarian Studies, use its library, archives and academic resources, and gain access to the scientific environment of one of Europe’s leading institutions.
The programme is open to researchers who are pursuing or have already obtained a PhD in the humanities or social sciences after 2022 and plan to carry out an original research project related to the Ukrainian context. The initiative is part of the European Union’s broader efforts to support Ukraine and integrate Ukrainian researchers into the international academic space.
Applications will be accepted until 16 January 2026, 23:59 Kyiv time. Detailed information on the conditions of participation and the application procedure is available on the website of the Vienna Institute for Humanitarian Studies.
