Instructors of Psychological First Aid — Training Already Underway in Kyiv

А series of trainings for preparing Psychological First Aid (PFA) instructors has taken place in Kyiv, Humanitarian Media Hub reports, citing the Ukrainian Red Cross Society (URCS).

“A series of trainings for preparing Psychological First Aid instructors has concluded in Kyiv — a program designed to give future instructors not only theoretical knowledge but also the confidence to teach various groups of the population,” the URCS stated on Facebook.

Throughout the sessions, participants learned the core principles of PFA, practiced responding to stressful situations, and worked on delivering training modules. Trainers provided supervision, helped adjust teaching approaches, and emphasized the importance of personal resilience among instructors. A dedicated safe space was created for participants, allowing them to discuss their emotional state, ask questions about mental health, and receive support.

The training series marked another step toward expanding a network of specialists capable of teaching communities psychological support skills. Since early September, Ukrainian Red Cross instructors have already certified 46 new specialists.

The project was organized by the Ukrainian Red Cross Society in partnership with the Centers for Citizen Preparedness for National Resistance. In 2026, the organizations plan to continue their cooperation to strengthen instructor training and ensure communities across the country have access to practical knowledge crucial in times of crisis.
