The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has approved the procedure for implementing the “Health Screening 40+” program, which will come into effect in 2026. It will enable all Ukrainians aged 40 and older to undergo a comprehensive medical examination, identify risks of chronic diseases, and receive personalized recommendations for further treatment or prevention.

The program covers three key areas: individual risk assessment, physical examination, and laboratory tests to determine the condition of the cardiovascular system, kidneys, and mental health. Based on the results, each person will receive personalized advice on lifestyle and health maintenance. If necessary, the doctor will be able to immediately prescribe the necessary medications, including those covered by the “Affordable Medicines” program, which already includes more than 700 items.

The government has allocated 10 billion hryvnia for the screening program. Each participant will receive 2,000 hryvnia, which can only be used for the screening. Invitations will be sent via the Diya app 30 days after the participant’s birthday. Once accepted, the funds will be automatically credited to the Diya Card. People who do not use Diya will be able to participate in the program through the Administrative Services Center and a special bank account.

Screening will be available at any medical facility that meets the requirements and is included in the official list of the National Health Service of Ukraine. This list will be published separately.

The program is aimed at the early detection of diseases that most often lead to disability or loss of working capacity. After the age of 40, the risk of diabetes and cardiovascular disease increases, and the full-scale war has significantly affected the level of stress and mental health of Ukrainians. Screening will help identify hidden problems and prevent complications, even if a person feels well.

The launch of the National Health Screening 40+ will be one of the largest state projects in the field of preventive medicine. It is expected to cover millions of people and form a sustainable culture of regular health assessment.
