The Ministry of Social Policy, Family and Unity of Ukraine has approved a state standard for social services that helps people with disabilities and those who have difficulties with everyday functioning to adapt their housing to their individual needs. Along with the standard, the Classifier of Social Services has also been updated so that this assistance is officially available throughout the country.

The main idea behind the service is to help people make their homes safe, accessible and comfortable. Specialists assess what changes are needed and provide professional recommendations, from a list of adaptations to technical solutions. Based on the assessment, an individual plan is drawn up, specifying the scope and duration of the service. This service can be provided by legal entities or sole proprietors listed in the Register of Social Service Providers.
To receive a consultation, it is sufficient to submit a written or electronic application to the authorised body at the place of residence. During a period of martial law or a state of emergency, applications are also accepted at the person’s actual place of residence.
The introduction of the new standard promotes the development of inclusive solutions in communities and makes state support more accessible to those who need to adapt their homes for a comfortable and independent life.
