On International Volunteer Day, the Ukrainian Red Cross announced the launch of a nationwide campaign to recruit volunteers for rapid response teams. The campaign is running under the slogan “You are your actions” and aims to attract active people who are ready to work in difficult conditions and support victims during emergencies.

Rapid response teams are a network of teams operating in different regions of the country and are the first to arrive at the scene. They include people of different ages and professions who are united by their desire to help those in critical situations. They work during fires, shelling, evacuations, man-made accidents and natural disasters. The teams provide operational support where quick decisions and coordinated interaction are particularly needed.
Today, there are 24 such teams operating in Ukraine, with almost 700 volunteers. Their activities include the evacuation of civilians, including people with reduced mobility and disabilities, the provision of first aid and psychological assistance during emergencies, and support for State Emergency Service rescuers in dealing with the aftermath of shelling and disasters. Volunteers also participate in search and rescue operations, set up mobile aid stations and temporary shelters, organise field kitchens, and deliver humanitarian aid to frontline and de-occupied communities.
The nationwide campaign aims to strengthen teams in the regions and attract new participants who are ready to work in a dynamic environment and support those in need of urgent assistance.
