Key points:
- NMT-2026 will be held in a one-day format.
- Four subjects: three compulsory and one elective.
- The law was passed by parliament as part of the renewal of the State Tax Administration and the admission campaign.
The national multi-subject test in 2026 will take place in the usual one-day format. Participants will take four subjects in one day. The decision was made at a plenary session of the Verkhovna Rada, which supported the Law on State Final Attestation and the 2026 Admission Campaign.
The return to the traditional format means that the test will include compulsory sections on the Ukrainian language, mathematics and Ukrainian history. Participants will choose the fourth subject themselves from the list: foreign language, biology, geography, physics, chemistry or Ukrainian literature. Education experts expect that the stable format will reduce stress levels among applicants and simplify the logistics of testing.
The Verkhovna Rada noted that the adopted changes are consistent with the needs of the admission campaign and the requirements of the state final attestation. According to the legislators’ plan, a single test day should increase the predictability of the process and ensure equal conditions for all participants.
