A psychological support forum for veterans’ families will be held in Kyiv

A forum-workshop aimed at supporting families of veterans and defenders is being prepared in Kyiv. The event is designed to provide families with effective tools for communicating in difficult situations, reducing tension and restoring inner resources. The organisers emphasise the importance of psychological resilience not only for military personnel, but also for their loved ones, who are going through their own process of adaptation and emotional turmoil on a daily basis.

The forum will take place on 4 December 2025 from 10:00 to 13:00. The format is offline, and participants will receive the exact address after registration. The location is equipped with a shelter. Participation is free of charge. A separate Christmas programme has been prepared for children, with a performance, master classes and gifts, allowing parents to attend the main part of the event without unnecessary worries.

The programme includes presentations by specialists working in the fields of psychological support, family relationships and recovery from traumatic events. Speakers include veteran and Deputy Minister for Veterans Affairs Ruslan Prykhodko, who will share his experience of supporting families during periods of change and stress. Psychologist Yegor Topolov will talk about coping with loss and the specifics of communicating with children, relatives, and colleagues during periods of acute emotional distress.

Psychoanalyst Anna Kushneruk will focus on the topic of finding new meaning in life after difficult events, and fitness expert and physiotherapist Ksenia Litvinova will present practical stress reduction techniques that can be used on a daily basis.

The forum is organised by the Ministry of Veterans Affairs of Ukraine in cooperation with the Sviatoshyn District State Administration and the NGO STRUM, with the support of the Kyiv Judo Federation. The aim of the initiative is to create a space where military families can receive support, knowledge and skills for sustainable living in the face of ongoing challenges.
