At the Invictus Games camp, veterans tried their hand at archery, an adaptive sport suitable for people with different needs and abilities. The discipline allows you to exercise while sitting, on prostheses or with supports, and combines physical activity with psychological relief. For many participants, these workouts became a form of ‘meditation in motion,’ helping to reduce stress, develop concentration and maintain muscle tone.

The classes were conducted by active military personnel Dmytro Lvivskyi and Ihor Saliy. Dmytro is a master of sports in classic archery and coach of the Warrior Games 2022 team. Igor is a participant in the United States Air Force Trials 2024 and manager of the Invictus Games community. They managed to create an atmosphere of support and inspiration in which participants felt confident and could focus on technique.
Training quickly became a favourite part of the programme: veterans stayed on the field longer than the schedule allowed and often joked that they were ready to shoot at night. Instructors note that such engagement is a sign of how important it is to regain physical confidence and experience team spirit.
The Invictus Games camp is organised by the Ministry of Veterans Affairs of Ukraine and Stratcom Ukraine as a space for recovery, sport and support for those who have been through war.
