More than 115,000 people receive antiretroviral therapy in Ukraine

As of 1 November 2025, 115,336 people living with HIV are receiving antiretroviral therapy in Ukraine. There are 113,703 adults and 1,633 children in the treatment system. Among adult patients, there are 61,355 men and 52,348 women. Among children, there are 776 boys and 857 girls. The data was provided by the Public Health Centre.

Antiretroviral therapy is a key component of medical care for people living with HIV. It is combined with the prevention and treatment of opportunistic infections, comorbidities, and reproductive health issues. The goal of therapy is to suppress the replication of the virus, restore the immune system, and maintain a long-term quality of life. Treatment is based on WHO recommendations and adapted to the conditions of the Ukrainian healthcare system, including the availability of drugs and virological control capabilities.

Antiretroviral drugs are provided free of charge in Ukraine. You can get tested and start therapy at healthcare facilities. Addresses are available on the Public Health Centre website. Therapy is prescribed for life and requires regular medication, strict adherence to dosage, laboratory monitoring, and support to help patients remain in effective treatment.
