Ukraine has announced a new competition for VUIAS academic scholarships for researchers who continue to work in Ukrainian scientific institutions. The programme opens up opportunities for specialists who remain in the country and offers financial support and access to the international academic community.
Participants will receive conditions for stable and productive work for ten months. Scholarships amount to €500 for postgraduate students and €1,000 for professors. The programme will run from 1 October 2026 to 31 July 2027. At the same time, researchers will be able to attend regular colloquiums and thematic workshops, gain access to the library, and receive professional support in preparing and translating their research.
Participants will have the opportunity to establish connections with colleagues from different countries, join the professional community, and present their research findings at the international level.
Ukrainian citizens or residence permit holders who remain in Ukraine, work in a Ukrainian academic institution, have a good command of English, and are participating in the programme for the first time are eligible to apply. The deadline for applications is 30 November 2025 at 15:00 Kyiv time.
The scholarships are administered by the Institute for Advanced Study in Berlin with the support of the Volkswagen Foundation. The programme is part of the EU’s opportunities for Ukrainian researchers and aims to strengthen the Ukrainian academic community in the context of the war.
