Every year, the world marks the Day for the Prevention and Protection of Children from Sexual Exploitation, Abuse, and Violence. This day, proclaimed by the UN General Assembly in 2022, is dedicated to raising global awareness and calling on governments and communities to take systematic measures to protect children.
In Ukraine, protecting children from violence is one of the key areas of state policy, especially in the context of full-scale war. The goal of the policy is to strengthen families and create a safe environment for children to grow up in.

According to the Office of the Prosecutor General, more than 3,100 children were victims of violence or abuse in the first half of 2025 alone. Among them, 206 cases involved sexual violence and 17 involved human trafficking. These figures underscore the need for decisive action.
The Barnahus model is being actively implemented in Ukraine. It aims to provide effective assistance to children in a safe environment, minimizing re-traumatization during the administration of justice. Currently, more than 2,000 children in 15 regions of the country have already received assistance in protection centers designed for children who have suffered or witnessed violence.
Ukraine is consistently striving to protect every child from violence and neglect. The authorities emphasize that childhood should be free from fear, pain, and threats. To ensure comprehensive support in communities across the country, more than 326 Resilience Centers are in operation. They provide families with medical, educational, psychological, and legal assistance, contributing to the social stability of society.
