A massive night attack on Ukraine caused destruction and the death of civilians

On the night of 19 November, Russia launched a combined strike on Ukrainian territory. The targets were primarily cities in the west of the country, where Russian troops launched dozens of strike drones almost continuously. In the early morning, the aggressor used Kalibr sea-based cruise missiles, and at around 6 a.m., Tu-95MS and Tu-160 strategic bombers launched cruise missiles.

According to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Russia launched more than 470 attack drones and 48 missiles of various types at Ukraine during the night. The most difficult situation was in Ternopil, where strikes on nine-storey residential buildings caused large-scale fires. At this point, nine people are known to have died and dozens have been injured. Rescue services are working at the sites of destruction, as people may still be trapped under the rubble.

Strikes were also recorded in Kharkiv, Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Kyiv, Mykolaiv, Cherkasy, Chernihiv, and Dnipropetrovsk regions. As a result of the attack on energy facilities in several regions, emergency power cuts were introduced, according to the Ministry of Energy.

Poland scrambled its fighter jets at around 5 a.m. due to Russian missile activity near the border. Airports in Rzeszów and Lublin in the south-east of the country have temporarily suspended operations, according to Polish media reports.
