There are only 20 spaces left in the Field of Honor at Lychakiv Cemetery in Lviv. This was announced by Yevhen Boiko, executive secretary of the Lviv City Council. Due to the rapid increase in the number of military burials, the city has prepared a new section in advance where defenders who died in the Russian-Ukrainian war will be buried. The location is not being disclosed for security reasons and until all approval procedures have been completed.
According to Yevhen Boiko, the city has been working on possible options for over a year together with a working group on commemorating the heroes. The group includes veterans, families of the deceased, scientists, architects, and other experts. The new plot is planned to be presented in the near future.

Lviv is also preparing to create a main military memorial on the former Mars Field. The project includes uniform gravestones in the shape of a Cossack cross, a wall of remembrance with a list of missing persons, and areas for solitude. At the end of the central alley, there will be a stele with an angel figure, which will form a symbolic axis of space through the play of light and shadows. Work is scheduled to begin in the spring of 2026.
A separate military memorial with 278 places is also being built at the Holoskovsky cemetery to ensure a dignified burial for every soldier.
