The IOM office in Ukraine began operating in Kyiv in 1996 when Ukraine was granted observer status with IOM. In 2001, Ukraine requested membership, and in 2002, the Ukrainian Parliament ratified the organization’s statute. Since the full-scale war began in Ukraine, IOM has redirected its programs and projects, providing humanitarian support to approximately three million people from February 2022 to March 2023.
