Ukraine is preparing new rules for IDPs living with pets

The Ministry of Social Policy is working on creating uniform rules that will allow internally displaced persons to live in temporary accommodation with their pets. This was announced during a working visit to Zaporizhzhia by Deputy Minister of Social Policy, Family and Unity of Ukraine Tetiana Kyrienko and Deputy Minister Anatolii Komirnyi.

Representatives of the ministry familiarised themselves with the living conditions in the transit centre and several temporary accommodation facilities. The new transit centre, which can be deployed in the city if necessary, will operate on the principle of providing comprehensive support to individuals. Here, displaced persons will be able to register, receive assistance in restoring their documents and find temporary accommodation.

According to Tetiana Kyrienko, the Zaporizhzhia centre is a positive example of how people can live together with their evacuated animals. It is precisely this practice that has become the basis for the development of new state regulations that will ensure the availability of this opportunity in all temporary accommodation centres.

There are over 250,000 internally displaced persons in the Zaporizhzhia region. Deputy Head of the Regional State Administration Lyudmila Bukharina emphasised that support for IDPs must remain systematic, and cooperation with the ministry allows for the rapid improvement of living conditions and access to necessary services.
