Ukrainian veterans win medals at the World Para Jiu-Jitsu Championship

The Ukrainian veteran team successfully completed its performance at the World Para Jiu-Jitsu Championship in Abu Dhabi, where athletes from more than ten countries competed. The team consisted of ten veterans who represented Ukraine at the international level and returned home with victories.

Our athletes won six medals. Artem Kuzmich and Vasyl Oksentyuk became champions, winning gold. Mykhailo Drobotenko and Mykhailo Kucherenko won silver medals, while Oleksandr Dashko and Ruslan Sumin added bronze to the team’s tally. For each participant, the performance was a confirmation of the strength and endurance that help them recover, find motivation and return to an active life through sport.

The Ministry of Veterans Affairs congratulated the team on their successful result and thanked the coaches and partners who support the development of veteran sports. The team’s participation was made possible by the ‘Development of Sports for Veterans’ project, which is being implemented as part of the Veteran Policy Strategy and the National Strategy for Creating a Barrier-Free Environment.
