Kyiv has become home to over 430,000 displaced persons

There are currently over 433,000 internally displaced persons living in the capital, including over 70,000 children and over 75,000 pensioners.

According to Marina Khonda, Deputy Head of the Kyiv City State Administration, Kyiv continues to accept and support those who are looking for a safe environment and assistance. “Every year, the number of people who need housing, support and a sense of stability is growing. It is important for us that everyone who comes to Kyiv feels part of the community,” she said.

In 2025, the social programme “Care. Towards Kyiv Residents” covers tens of thousands of displaced persons. More than 22,000 people have already received financial assistance totalling 58 million hryvnias. Approximately 200 million hryvnias have been allocated for free meals for children in schools and kindergartens, and 38,000 people have received compensation for discounted travel. Territorial centres help displaced persons with food, hygiene products and other necessary items — more than 1,900 people use their support.

A city centre for comprehensive assistance to IDPs is also being created in Kyiv. It will be a modern space where people can receive legal and psychological counselling, social support, assistance with documents and other services.
