As part of the President of Ukraine’s Bring Kids Back UA initiative, a significant group of children and teenagers has been returned to safe conditions after living under occupation. The evacuation was supported by the Save Ukraine team and other partners.
Among those rescued is 10-year-old Karina, who faced threats from security services at school, and her younger brothers, who were forced to sing Russian patriotic songs and collect money for the occupier’s army. Seven-year-old Nastia and two-year-old Yaroslav lost their mother due to the inaction of occupying doctors, and despite having relatives ready to care for them, they were almost sent to an orphanage. Nineteen-year-old Mykhailo was tortured and threatened with execution because of his connection to an ATO veteran, while 18-year-old Veronika, who studied in a Russian school, preserved her Ukrainian identity and tore up the occupiers’ passport immediately after returning.
All the children are now on territory controlled by Ukraine. They are receiving psychological support, assistance with documents, housing, and care to ensure they feel safe and free.
