Ukraine has simplified access to medical services for veterans. Now, preventive examinations, screenings, consultations, prescriptions, and other medical services can be obtained directly from your family doctor — without the need to visit different institutions.
All these services are included in the packages of the National Health Service of Ukraine. However, according to the Ministry of Veterans Affairs, many defenders are unaware of these opportunities. To encourage doctors to work more actively with veterans and provide them with comprehensive care, the state has introduced a mechanism for double reimbursement of the cost of medical services for family doctors who serve this category of patients.
To take advantage of the expanded package of medical services, veterans need only inform their doctor of their combatant status and provide documents confirming their identity and status. The doctor will then arrange for all necessary services within the framework of the National Health Service programme at no additional cost to the patient.
The information campaign “Opportunities for Veterans” is being implemented by the Ministry of Veterans Affairs of Ukraine and the Veterans Reintegration Programme, which is being implemented by IREX with the support of the US State Department.
