In Ukraine, 370 hectares of fields were cleared of mines in October

Ukraine, together with its international partners, continues to restore agricultural areas by clearing them of explosive objects. According to the Committee on Agrarian and Land Policy, the state is taking all measures to ensure food security and support farmers working in frontline regions.

According to the Ministry of Economy, Environment and Agriculture, 370 hectares of agricultural land were cleared last month alone as part of the state programme to compensate for the cost of land clearance. Five demining agreements were implemented, and demining operators received 21.8 million hryvnias for the work performed. The average cost of clearing one hectare in October was 58,800 hryvnias.

Since the programme began, the Humanitarian Demining Centre has signed 96 contracts to clear more than 16,000 hectares of agricultural land. The total cost of the work amounted to 963.3 million hryvnias. The compensation programme is funded under the Ukraine Facility Plan, a European Union financial support instrument aimed at the country’s recovery and sustainable development.
