UNICEF’s main goal in Ukraine is to promote the progressive realization of the rights of all children and reduce gaps in children’s access to essential services. This involves balancing humanitarian efforts, development activities, and supporting the inclusion of peacebuilding and conflict resolution priorities into the core principles of current key reforms in the social sector and decentralization.

History:
UNICEF was established in 1946 as the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund after World War II. The organization is committed to protecting the rights and supporting the well-being of children in any situation, regardless of their status or location.
UNICEF opened its office in Kyiv in 1997. Since then, the Fund has provided the Government of Ukraine with assistance totaling 130 million USD, enabling the development and implementation of various programs in health, water and sanitation, education, and child protection.
