DTEK Kyiv Power Grid explained why the schedules for stabilisation power cuts are not always fixed. The changes depend on operational decisions made by NPC Ukrenergo, which coordinates the balance between electricity consumption, generation and transmission in the country.
According to the company, rolling blackouts have been in effect in the capital since 22 October, introduced after massive attacks on the energy infrastructure. Every evening, Ukrenergo sends operators updated data on the volume of restrictions and queues of consumers who need to be disconnected the next day. However, schedules may be adjusted during the day if the situation in the power system changes.
The operation of the network is affected by weather conditions, peak load times and the technical condition of equipment. Heat or cold increase consumption due to the active use of air conditioners and heaters, and a lack of solar or wind generation can create an energy shortage. An additional factor is damage to energy facilities as a result of shelling, which complicates the stability of supply.
The company reminds that the current power cut schedule can be checked via the official chatbots of DTEK Kyiv Power Grids on Viber or Telegram.
