History:
East-SOS was established on May 5, 2014, as a public initiative to assist those affected by the conflict in eastern Ukraine. Founded by activists from the Luhansk Human Rights Center “Postup,” the Crimean Human Rights Center “Diia,” and the Civil Sector of the Luhansk Euromaidan, the organization became one of the first volunteer initiatives providing aid to people affected by military aggression.
The activists of East-SOS engaged in finding housing for temporary displaced persons, ensuring safe evacuation logistics from conflict zones, and working on the search, release, and rehabilitation of kidnapping victims. They collected and distributed humanitarian aid for IDPs in Kyiv and delivered necessary material resources to frontline settlements. Additionally, they provided psychological support to those who experienced war trauma.
In the spring of 2015, East-SOS was registered as a charitable organization “Charitable Foundation East-SOS,” continuing to actively support conflict victims and displaced persons. The organization works on the recovery of affected regions and promotes democratic changes in its region and the country as a whole.
Since 2024, it has been a member of the Alliance of Ukrainian Civil Society Organizations.
