A new international prosthetics centre, Medical Centre Orthotics & Prosthetics, has opened in the capital, providing assistance to military personnel and civilians who have lost limbs. The centre offers modern functional prosthetics for complex cases, individual solutions for each patient and a comprehensive programme for adaptation and gait restoration.
The opening ceremony was attended by Vitaliy Muzychenko, Director General of the Social Protection Fund for Persons with Disabilities, Mykhailo Tsymbaliuk, Head of the Kyiv Branch of the Fund, and Denys Ulyutin, Minister of Social Policy, Family and Unity of Ukraine. The Minister emphasised that the centre operates according to a human-centred model, where the main focus is on the needs of each patient.
A team of specialists from the centre arrived from the United States to share their experience and teach Ukrainian prosthetists and rehabilitation specialists the latest approaches. Leading specialists with over 20 years of experience are now helping Ukrainian veterans recover more quickly from serious injuries.
The creation of such centres is an important step for the rehabilitation system in Ukraine. They help people with disabilities return to an active life, regain self-confidence and integrate into society.
