American actress and UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador Angelina Jolie made an unannounced visit to Ukraine, visiting Kherson, a city on the front line. The trip, which was humanitarian in nature, gained publicity after reports of an incident at one of the military checkpoints.
According to Politico, during the trip, representatives of the TRC (Territorial Recruitment Centre) detained one of the members of her delegation. According to preliminary data, it was Jolie’s driver, who is a military reservist and received an order to report for training.
Sources in the Ukrainian government confirmed to the publication that the incident did indeed take place, but the details are still being clarified. The military later removed the official statement about the situation, noting that the information circulated in the media may be distorted and that the investigation is ongoing.
According to Ukrainian officials, the actress did not inform the government of her arrival and crossed the Ukrainian border on foot. Jolie’s representatives declined to comment.
This is the actress’s second visit to Ukraine since the start of the full-scale invasion — she first visited Lviv in 2022, where she met with displaced persons and volunteers.
