Eleven Ukrainian women successfully obtained their CE category driving licences after passing a practical exam at the Ternopil Regional Ministry of Internal Affairs service centre. They became participants in the Ukrainian-Swedish project Reskilling Ukraine, which teaches women to drive trucks free of charge.
The new drivers came from Kharkiv, Odesa, Lviv, Kryvyi Rih, and Vinnytsia. Among them are a former teacher, a nurse, a logistician, and women who simply dreamed of getting behind the wheel of a large vehicle. They completed the theoretical part of the training online and the practical classes in Kyiv and Kremenets.
The Reskilling Ukraine project helps Ukrainian women learn new professions, creating opportunities for economic growth and gender equality in the labour market. Its goal is to support women who seek professional fulfilment in the context of war and the country’s reconstruction.
