The final stage of accepting applications for the Spivprostir competition, designed to support regional media covering topics related to responsible treatment of animals and the environment, is underway. The organisers are calling on journalists to take inspiration from World Animal Day, which is celebrated on 7 November, and use this date as a news hook for creating content.
The prize fund for the competition is 100,000 UAH, and the maximum prize in the grand prix category is 30,000 UAH. The competition is organised by U-Hearts (formerly Save Pets of Ukraine), Ukraine’s largest manufacturer of cat and dog food, Kormotech, and the non-governmental organisation Internews Ukraine.
The organisers are looking for journalistic works that explore the rehabilitation of animals evacuated from the combat zone, the work of shelters in frontline regions, the impact of war on the environment and wildlife, successful adoption stories. They also seek the formation of a culture of responsible treatment of animals.
Applications can be submitted until 1 December 2025.
