History of the organization:
In July 2010, the United Nations General Assembly created UN Women, the UN Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women, to address these issues. In doing so, UN Member States took a historic step in accelerating the achievement of the Organization’s goals for gender equality and women’s empowerment. The creation of UN Women was part of the UN reform program that pooled resources and mandates to have a greater impact. In Ukraine, UN Women started its work in October 2015 and went from implementing individual projects to opening the Office in 2018.
