More Ukrainian families will be able to receive basic social assistance

The second stage of the basic social assistance programme is being launched in Ukraine. From now on, not only those who already receive state benefits, but also low-income families who previously had no support, will be able to apply for it. Applications are accepted at the service centres of the Pension Fund of Ukraine.

Basic social assistance replaces five separate types of payments — instead of several applications, only one is submitted, and the money is received by the entire family. The programme simplifies the application process and allows for more targeted support for families in need.

The first stage of the project started in July 2025. Now it is being expanded — families that meet the programme criteria can participate, even if they have not been recipients of other social benefits.

The amount of assistance is calculated individually based on a base amount of 4,500 hryvnias, taking into account family composition, age, disability, and income. Applicants can choose whether to switch to basic social assistance or keep their current benefits.

Applications can be submitted offline at the Pension Fund service centre or online via the Diya app. The digital service is currently available to recipients of several types of assistance, including low-income families, single mothers and large families.

Basic social assistance is granted for six months and is automatically extended for the entire duration of the pilot project — two years.
