The state program “eBook”, launched in December 2024, has already involved 200,281 eighteen-year-old Ukrainians. Thanks to this initiative, young people were able to purchase books funded by the government, according to the Ukrainian Book Institute.
During the first three quarters of 2025, participants of the program bought 359,222 books, averaging more than 1,300 books per day. The most active sales took place through Knyharnya Ye, Yakaboo, KSD, Readeat, Knygoland, Bukva.ua, Vivat, Megogo, New Technologies, and House of Books.
Readers showed the greatest interest in books from leading Ukrainian publishers, including KSD, Vivat, BookChef, Ranok, VSL, RM Publishing, Folio, Nasha Ideya, Artbooks, and Vikhola.
The top-selling authors were Colleen Hoover, Tess Gerritsen, Penelope Douglas, Brianna Wiest, and Agatha Christie. Their titles accounted for more than 12% of all books purchased through the program.
Among Ukrainian authors, the most popular were Volodymyr Stanchyshyn (3,719 copies sold), Illarion Pavlyuk (2,100), and Andrii Semianiv (1,440).
The “eBook” program continues to promote reading among young Ukrainians, expanding access to contemporary Ukrainian and global literature.
