The Netherlands will provide Ukraine with €25 million to support and restore its energy infrastructure damaged by Russian attacks. The announcement was made by Dutch Foreign Minister David van Weel on social media platform X.
According to him, the funding will be used to purchase energy equipment, carry out emergency repairs, and procure gas. The goal of this assistance is to help stabilize Ukraine’s energy system ahead of winter and strengthen the country’s ability to respond quickly to the consequences of shelling.
“Russia is deliberately targeting Ukraine’s energy facilities. The Netherlands is allocating €25 million for equipment, emergency repairs, and gas purchases. We will not leave our friends in a difficult situation,” van Weel wrote.
The minister also reaffirmed that the Netherlands supports the establishment of a Special Tribunal to investigate the crime of Russian aggression and is ready to participate in its creation.
Earlier, several European countries announced new support packages for Ukraine’s energy sector. Norway will provide $150 million to strengthen Ukraine’s energy security, while Estonia will contribute €150,000 to the Energy Support Fund of Ukraine.
