IDP will be able to receive long-term nursing care free of charge

People who have been forced to leave their homes due to the war will be able to receive long-term nursing care free of charge. This is an experimental project being implemented jointly by the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, the Ministry of Social Policy and the National Health Service of Ukraine.

After evacuation, internally displaced persons undergo a consultation with a medical professional at the transit point. If further treatment or stabilisation is required, the person is referred to a designated facility that provides long-term care services.

The service includes medical care — following doctor’s orders, performing necessary procedures, and monitoring health. It also provides special and general care, psychological support, housing, basic necessities, and four meals a day in accordance with Ministry of Health standards. Patients are assisted by social workers, who help them restore their documents, find housing, and obtain social services.

The length of stay in a medical facility is up to 30 calendar days per year for one person. The list of medical facilities participating in the programme is published on the NHSU website.

Institutions wishing to join the project can submit their proposals via the electronic healthcare system. Participation in the programme requires signing an agreement with the National Health Service of Ukraine. The service is financed from the state budget: the tariff for medical institutions is 530.66 UAH per day per person.
