Ukrposhta has launched a sign language interpretation service in its branches

Customers with hearing impairments can now receive Ukrposhta services with sign language interpretation. The service was introduced in cooperation with the Ukrainian Society of the Deaf (USOD). It is currently operating on a pilot basis in Kyiv and the Kyiv region, but will eventually become available in branches throughout Ukraine.

The mechanism is simple: a customer with hearing impairment contacts an operator, who makes a video call to a sign language interpreter through the UTOG Service programme. The interpreter joins the conversation online and assists with communication in real time.

Before the launch, all employees involved in the project underwent special training. The system is designed to make the process of obtaining services as convenient and accessible as possible.

Ukrposhta notes that the initiative is part of its work on developing barrier-free and inclusive services.
