Defenders of Ukraine get their sight back for free as part of a national project

The initiative ‘Let’s Give Sight Back to the Defenders of Ukraine’ is still going strong in Ukraine, providing free eye care to military personnel and veterans. Combatants, people with war-related disabilities and those discharged on medical grounds can undergo a full diagnosis, laser or surgical vision correction, and restoration of damaged tissue after injury.

Over the course of the project’s first year, more than 1,600 veterans and military personnel have received assistance. Within the framework of the programme, 138 lens replacement operations, 171 laser vision corrections and 70 plastic and reconstructive surgeries have been performed. All services for veterans are provided free of charge.

The goal of the initiative is not only to preserve but also to restore vision to those who defended Ukraine. Doctors help patients regain the ability to see the faces of their loved ones and feel the fullness of life after injuries.

Currently, treatment is available in four cities:
Kyiv, Chernihiv, Dnipro, and Zaporizhzhia. To register, you must provide your veteran or combatant ID.
