The government has expanded the humanitarian demining compensation programme for farmers

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has approved amendments to Resolution No. 284, which allow individuals and self-employed persons in the agricultural sector to take advantage of the state programme for compensation of expenses for humanitarian demining.

As explained by Deputy Minister of Economy, Environment and Agriculture Ihor Bezkaravayny, about one million hectares of agricultural land are located in areas where hostilities have taken place or are ongoing. Some of this land remains unsuitable for cultivation due to the presence of mines and other explosive objects. The new changes allow owners and tenants of such plots to apply for demining at the expense of the state in order to return the land to safe use.

Applications can be submitted through the State Agrarian Register or in person, in paper or electronic form with an electronic signature. Paper documents are accepted by local state administrations or executive bodies of village, settlement or city councils at the location of the plot.

Submitted applications are reviewed within three days. If the information is confirmed, the owner is included in the list of agricultural producers eligible for compensation. This list is sent to the Humanitarian Demining Centre (HDC) for further verification.
