The number of young people aged 18 to 24 willing to sign contracts for service in the Armed Forces of Ukraine has decreased. This was reported by Denys Shvydkyi, head of the recruitment department of the 28th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after the Knights of the Winter Campaign, during an appearance on Ranok.LIVE.
According to him, the current trend is temporary, and the situation may improve within the next two to three months. Shvydkyi expects that young men will gradually return to Ukraine and renew their interest in signing military contracts.
The main factor behind the decline, he noted, is the permission for men aged 18–22 to travel abroad. No other significant reasons for the drop in interest in military service have been observed so far.
At the same time, Shvydkyi emphasized that the first servicemen who signed contracts last year have already gained experience, are performing their duties, and are satisfied with the conditions of service. The first positive results from this wave of contract soldiers are expected to appear within four to five months.
