Ukrainians will soon be able to file for divorce online via the Diia application. The Cabinet of Ministers has approved the decision, and the new service is set to launch in 2026. It will be available to couples who do not have underage children.
According to Ukraine’s Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko, the digitalization of this process will simplify divorce procedures, which previously required several visits to civil registry offices and the submission of paper documents.
Once an application is submitted in Diia, the system will automatically verify the data in state registries. One month after confirmation, the marriage will be officially dissolved—unless the couple decides to withdraw their application. An electronic divorce certificate will appear directly in the app.
The introduction of online divorce services in Diia is part of a broader government effort to digitalize legal and social services, aiming to make bureaucratic procedures simpler and more accessible for citizens.
