Teachers working in frontline communities will receive a monthly allowance of 4,000 hryvnia after taxes. This was announced by Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko. The decision was made at a government meeting and affects 25,000 teachers from 84 communities in the Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Luhansk, Mykolaiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Kherson, and Chernihiv regions.
The funds will be received in October for the period from 1 September this year. According to the head of the government, supporting educators who continue to teach children despite the risks is one of the state’s priorities.
Yulia Svyrydenko also noted that the draft state budget for 2026 provides for a 50% increase in salaries for teaching staff. She discussed these initiatives with the finalists of the Global Teacher Prize Ukraine national award, who represent different regions of the country. The Prime Minister thanked the teachers for their resilience, dedication and willingness to share their proposals for the development of education in wartime.
