The National Health Service of Ukraine has expanded the list of free services for veterans. Nearly a thousand medical institutions across the country have joined the programme, and services can be used both at the place of residence and remotely using telecommunications technologies.

Key areas include individual monitoring and treatment plans, preventive examinations, screening for the effects of combat, psychological assistance and psychotherapy. For those with chronic conditions or combat injuries, consultations with orthopaedists, neurologists and surgeons, joint treatment, post-amputation support and prosthetic care are available.
Rehabilitation opportunities have also been expanded. For veterans with multiple amputations, the number of inpatient courses has been increased to 26 per year, allowing for longer and higher-quality recovery. In other cases, the number of courses ranges from two to eight per year, depending on the complexity of the situation, each lasting at least two weeks. Up to four cycles are provided for children.
In addition, veterans can access mono-services — specialised rehabilitation programmes conducted by a single specialist. This could be a physical therapist, occupational therapist or speech therapist. Medication, assistance in overcoming addictions, diagnosis and treatment of vision and hearing impairments are also provided.
The programme officially launched on 1 March 2025 and has become one of the biggest steps in the development of medical care for those who have returned from the front lines.
